PROF. DR. PHIL. STEFAN BÖSCHEN

RECTORATE REPRESENTATIVE
Stefan Böschen, who has always been an enthusiastic interdisciplinary researcher, is Professor of Technology and Society at the Faculty of Philosophy at RWTH Aachen University. He is co-director of the Human Technology Center (HumTec) at RWTH Aachen University. Previously, he was head of the research area “Knowledge Society and Knowledge Policy” at the Institute for Technology Assessment and Systems Analysis (ITAS) at KIT.
He studied chemical engineering, philosophy and sociology in Erlangen-Nuremberg, graduating as a chemical engineer and completing his doctorate and habilitation in sociology. He specializes in science, technology and risk research, technology assessment and the theory of modern societies. He has been the Rectorate Representative for the Leonardo project since April 2020.

SENIOR ADVISER AND FOUNDER

Alina Cohnen, M.Ed.

PROJECT MANAGEMENT
Alina Cohnen studied educational science, history and literature and linguistics at RWTH Aachen University. From 2016 to 2018, she was part of the team as a student assistant in the “Leonardo” project. She has been working as a research assistant in the project management team since 2023. She conducts research on environmental policy communication in the European integration process and is interested in topics relating to the sustainable transformation of the economy and society, equal opportunities and cultural education.

PROJECT MANAGEMENT
Sönke Hebing studied mathematics and history at the RWTH Aachen University. He has been working as an assistant to Professor Kerner since 2018 and as a research assistant in the “Leonardo” project since 2021.
His research interests include German-Jewish history, the history of science and economics, and the history of futurology in the second half of the 20th century.

LENNART GÖPFERT, M.Sc.

PROJECT MANAGEMENT
Lennart Göpfert studied mechanical engineering with a specialization in medical technology at the RWTH. He has been working as a research assistant in the “Leonardo” project since 2021 and is doing his doctorate at the Institute of Applied Medical Technology. He has been working as a research assistant in the “Leonardo” project since 2018. He is interested in the future challenges of humanity from a technical perspective, especially cancer research and sustainable management.

Course Supervision
Alina Meyer is studying political science at RWTH Aachen University. In the “Leonardo” project, she has already participated in the modules “Development Cooperation” and “Planetary Health”. Her interests lie particularly in the areas of sustainability and climate change.

CHIARA SCHUMANN, B.A.
Course Supervision
Chiara Schumann is studying Literature and Linguistics at RWTH Aachen University. In the “Leonardo” project, she supports Sönke Hebing and Lennart Göpfert in the courses courses “Is God dead?” and “The future of medicine”. Her fields of interest are “Biosemiotics” and “Cognitive Linguistics” - disciplines that combine knowledge and research from the natural sciences and humanities.

NICOLAS HEYN
Course Supervision
Nicolas Heyn is studying mechanical engineering. He has been working as a student assistant in the “Leonardo” project since May 2021. He has already been involved in the courses “Raw materials policy”, “Future of medicine” and “Energy transition”. He is also responsible for compiling statistics. His interests lie particularly in the field of aerospace and innovations from various disciplines and fields of study

Nils Printzen
Course Supervision
Nils has been studying to become a teacher for grammar schools and comprehensive schools at RWTH in 2021. He started with the subjects mathematics and history, but later swapped math for biology. Since the winter semester 2024/25, he has been involved in the “Leonardo” project and has supervised the “House of Drama” theater workshop in addition to research work. His particular interests lie in the areas of ecology and sustainability, as well as looking at nature throughout history. In the summer semester 2025, he will once again supervise the “House of Drama”.

SINA SPIEGELSPERGER
Course Supervision
Sina is studying Computational Engineering Science and Governance of Innovation and Technologies at RWTH Aachen University. She is particularly interested in how technological innovations change social structures and dynamics and how social developments influence new technologies.
