Registration

The registration takes place via RWTH Online and is possible until 31st of March. Further information about the registration process can be found in our FAQ.

All students can register for one module. You can specify two preferences. Please use the numbers “1” and “2”. If you have not been assigned a place in the project after the end of the assignment and are still interested in participating, please contact sibel.yildirim[@]ipw.rwth-aachen.de directly.

Contents

In the future, intelligent medical devices will continue to contribute to answering major medical questions:

  • Due to demographic change and the increasing shortage of healthcare professionals, especially in the nursing sector, smart medical devices will reduce the discrepancy between supply and demand of professionals and improve the daily lives of nursing staff.
  • Telemedicine has become a standard procedure in emergency medicine and saves lives every day.
  • Novel smart medical devices enable new therapies, for example by supporting and monitoring bodily functions.
  • In this lecture series, the Medical Science and Technology (MedST) profile area, together with Project Leonardo, offers an in-depth insight into the world of tomorrow’s medicine. Backgrounds from a wide range of specialist areas are necessary for their realisation: Engineers, physicians, natural scientists, social scientists and social scientists must work hand in hand.

Learning Outcomes

At the end of this course, students will understand basic concepts of research and application for smart medical devices. They should be able to assess part of the future of technology in medicine and thus broaden their knowledge horizon towards medicine and its fields.
